This set of six Art Deco / Machine Age folding chairs were designed by American designer Warren McArthur circa 1930s manufactured by Mayfair Industries. Each chair features its signature tubular aluminum frame with it’s original black vinyl upholstery on the back, seat, and armrests. They are comfortable and don’t feel like folding chairs when sitting in them. They retain their original anodized aluminum finish which shows only light use. They also retain their Mayfair manufacturer's label to underside ‘Mayfair Industries Inc. Yonkers, New York. A Warren McArthur Product.
Designer Warren McArthur during the Great Depression sought to design furniture that could be used both indoors and outdoors and to do this he employed tubular aluminum before it became associated with the Bauhaus. His designs were sought after by celebrities such as Clark Gable and Marlene Dietrich. He was also asked to design the executive offices for Chrysler.
Overall good, sturdy, usable condition. Some wear to the armrest edges. Most original glides are missing.
