This rare "Gazelle" dining table by Shelby Williams masterfully blends organic mid-century modernism with atomic-age optimism. While Shelby Williams is known for the iconic "Gazelle" chair, the matching dining table is a unique find. This table features a graphic, black-and-white checkered formica top with a custom ebonized wood trim. The top is supported by heavy cast aluminum, biomorphic "Gazelle" legs with sculptural "Y" splits at the mounting plates that gracefully taper down to delicate, padded ball feet. The contrast between the rigid geometric top and the fluid, organic lines of the legs makes this table a true standout of 1950s modern design. The table is shown with a set of six "Gazelle" chairs upholstered in sliver vinyl that create an outstanding dining set. The chairs are listed separately here.
Very good overall condition. Refinished wood trim.
