These midcentury modern lounge chairs designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin feature dramatic, clean lines in staved walnut. Staved wood has a slight bevel to it and was used by coopers to make barrels, hence the name of the model, the Cooper. Baughman's inspiration is most visible from the back where three beveled wooden slats form the backrest. The cushions are newly upholstered in cream woven cotton linen blend. Thayer Coggin records list this model as no. 1251-103. The arm height measures 21 inches.
Baughman worked with a few furniture companies such as Drexel, Glenn of California, and Murray Furniture. His most successful designs however, were those he made for Thayer Coggin. So successful was their partnership, Baughman designed for the company for fifty years.
Refinished and newly upholstered.
