This octagonal oak coffee table was created by the Romweber Furniture Company circa 1950s known for its durable, handcrafted solid wood pieces, particularly the iconic, Nordic-inspired "Viking Oak" collection (1935-1987). This coffee table is part of that successful Viking Oak line which was inspired by Scandinavian folk furniture. The coffee table has a leather inset top with a carved border and an apron underneath that houses a small storage drawer. The base features hand-carved details giving it a rustic feel. The medium tone of the finish beautifully exhibits the natural grain of the oak for a charming piece of home furniture.
The Romweber Furniture Company was founded in the late 19th Century in Batesville, Indianna. It started as three separate companies one for making bedroom furniture, one for making dining room furniture and the other for making... coffins!
This table has been refinished. The leather top is in good original condition with some patina s shown.
